User Defined Template (DV)
This dialog box lets you customize settings for the video files you are making from your production. These settings are for AVI files to be outputted to a DV camcorder. This type of file is very large and not suitable for other uses.
Once you have changed these settings, you can apply them to the video you are outputting from your production.
Note: If you are not an advanced user, you probably do not need to change these settings. Instead, it is recommended that you use a pre-selected setting in the Make Movie dialog box.
n Name: Enter a name for your custom video quality setting.
n File type: Displays the current file type for which this dialog box allows you to customize settings:
n DV: Select to customize settings for AVI files that are optimized for playback on a DV camcorder.
n MPEG: Select to customize settings for MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 video clips.
n AVI: Select to customize settings for AVI files.
Video settings
n Compression: Displays DV video, which is the type of compression used. (You cannot change this setting.)
n Format: Select the video standard for the video file:
n NTSC: Select if your DV camcorder records in the NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) video standard. (This is the standard used in the U.S.)
n PAL: Select if your DV camcorder records in the PAL (Phase Alternate Line) video standard. (This is the standard used in much of Europe and Asia.)
Audio settings
n Compression: Displays DV audio, which is uncompressed. (You cannot change this setting for the DV (AVI) settings.)
n Sampling rate: Displays the rate of audio sampling. (The higher the sampling rate is, the better the quality of the sound, the larger the file size, and the more CPU resources used to process the sound.)
Note: For information on the audio sampling rates your DV camcorder supports, see the manufacturer documentation.
