Adding custom shapes
Follow this procedure to add or edit a custom shape. A custom shape is one that you draw freehand while PhotoSuite is in drawing mode, as distinct from one that you select from a menu of predefined shapes.
For each shape you add, PhotoSuite creates a new object in the photo or project. You can select the object and edit the shape.
To add a custom shape:
1 In the Tools pane, click Custom Shapes.
2 Click Draw New Shape.
3 Click and drag the mouse to draw the new shape.
When you click the Canvas, a circle appears, indicating the starting anchor point of the shape.
To draw a straight line, click on a different point on the Canvas. PhotoSuite adds an new anchor point where you clicked and draws a straight line from the last anchor point to the new point.
Tip: If you hold Shift while you move the mouse around the Canvas, the line is constrained to a 45-degree angle relative to the last point.
To draw a curved line, click and hold the mouse button while you draw your line. When you release the mouse button, a new anchor point appears.
Tip: To remove the last segment that you drew, press Backspace.
4 Choose one of the following ways to stop drawing:
n Click the starting point circle to join the two points and enclose the shape
n Click the ending point circle to stop drawing without closing the object.
5 Select the shape style (Fill and Border, Fill, or Border Only).
Note: You can only select a fill if you closed the shape.
6 Select the fill and border colors from the appropriate drop-down list box (Fill Color or Border Color).
Tip: For more color choices, select More colors. Or use the eye dropper: Click the eye dropper tool, and then click a sample of the color you want to use. You can click a color anywhere in the PhotoSuite window—for example, you can select a color from a photo in the Canvas.
7 Use the sliders to adjust the following settings:
n Thickness: Set the thickness of the border.
n Softness: Increase or decrease the blurring of the edges of the shape, or how much the shape blends in to the background.
8 Move, resize, or rotate the shape, as needed.
