Not enough space on the hard drive
During certain types of recordings, a copy of the source disc will be temporarily stored as a disc image file on an available hard drive. To avoid recording errors, make sure you have enough space on your hard drive to store the disc image.
To determine how much space you have available on your hard drive:
In Windows 8 Metro:
1 On the Start screen, click or tap the Windows Explorer tile. (If you don’t see the tile, open the Search box and enter “Windows Explorer”.
In the results area, click Windows Explorer.
2 Right-click the hard drive icon, then select Properties.
3 Note the amount of free space Windows reports.
4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 for any additional hard drives on your computer.
In Windows 7 or Windows Vista:
1 Click Start.
2 Click Computer.
The amount of free space is displayed for each hard drive.
In Windows XP:
1 Double-click My Computer.
2 Right-click the hard drive icon, then select Properties.
3 Note the amount of free space Windows reports.
4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 for any additional hard drives on your computer.
Depending on the type of recording and the size of the source disc, your hard drive should have between 100 MB and 25 GB of free space. If your hard drive does not have enough free space, follow these suggestions:
Empty the Recycle Bin
1 Double-click the Recycle Bin icon on your Windows desktop.
2 Select the files you want to delete, then choose File > Delete.
Note: If the File menu is hidden, press the Alt key.
Run Disk Cleanup
Disk Cleanup is a Windows utility that helps you remove unneeded files from your hard drive. To start Disk Cleanup, follow these steps:
1 Click the Windows Start button, choose All Programs > Accessories > System Tools, then click Disk Cleanup. (In Windows 8 Metro, click or tap the Disk Cleanup tile, or search for it by entering “Disk Cleanup” into the App search tool.)
2 Follow the instructions to clean up your hard disk.
