Converting Audio Files
Toast can convert audio files to a variety of different formats to suit the output you want. The following formats are available for audio file conversion:
AIFF: Creates a full quality uncompressed audio file for use on a Mac.
WAV: Creates a full quality uncompressed audio file for use on a PC.
AAC: Creates a high quality compressed audio file supported by iTunes.
Apple Lossless: Creates a full quality compressed audio file supported by iTunes.
FLAC: Creates a full quality compressed audio file. Your player will need FLAC support. iTunes does not support FLAC.
Ogg Vorbis: Creates a high quality compressed audio file, similar to MP3. Your player will need Ogg Vorbis support. iTunes does not support Ogg Vorbis.
To convert audio files
1 In Toast, choose Convert tab to open Easy File Converter.
2 In the Media Browser, select your source disc and drag the files that you want to convert.
3 In the Output Settings area, ensure Convert to is set to Audio.
4 Click Device or Format and choose the device or format you want from the corresponding drop-down menu.
5 In the Quality drop-down menu, choose a quality setting.
If you want to adjust other default settings, click Advanced and choose the settings you want. For more information, see Changing Advanced Convert Options.
6 In the When Complete drop-down menu, choose an option.
7 Click the red Convert button.
8 In the Save as box, type a file name and in the Where box, choose a location.
If you want to preview the files after conversion, enable the Open in QuickTime Player when done check box.
9 Click Save.
Toast displays a progress bar and status information as it exports the audio.
